We're extremely proud to announce Mathilde Bataillé's forthcoming tape EP on NX, Le Soleil Dans L’oeil. Channeling Elliott Smith, Grouper and (Sandy) Alex G, Bataillé's self-produced songs blend hazy guitar, tape loop experimentation and woozy field recordings with enchanting, intimate vocals. Syd Barret's works have been likened to 'little spells', and this EP too seems saturated with a beguiling form of magic; hearing Le Soleil Dans L’oeil fade out for the final time is to be roused from a daydream about summers past and future, and (perhaps sadly) returned to the present time.
